Does your little one have a Christmas birthday?
I can honestly say I have never (yet) met anyone who was thrilled at having a December birthday. The complaints range from, My family is too busy, I never get to celebrate, My friends can never attend, I am jipped out of gifts.
While the last complaint is kinda bad I can sympathize. My boys have birthdays in March and June the later being the best since you get gifts and celebrations every six months. So, how can you quiet these complaints? How can you make your little one feel special when every thing is revolving around cocktail parties, family get togethers, Santa visits, shopping, and decorating amongst many other obstacles?
Here are a few ways to make your little one feel special…
- If possible, have their party before you decorate the house.
- Send out your invitations earlier than usual. (4-6 weeks in advance vs. 3-4 weeks)
- Create a clear separation by choosing a non Christmas Theme.
- Kids always have a long list of wants, ask your child to make 2 wish lists. One for their birthday and one for Christmas. This practice will help with the “jipped” present complaint.
- Follow up with those invites to ensure the people you invite will be able to attend.
This seems like a pretty easy list, and it is, but you will notice a change in the slump if you can do just a couple of these small accommodations.
