First cold of the season my friends, which calls for a little something special. While vitamin c and lots of water is at the top of my list, it can’t hurt to have a little honey…and maybe some whiskey??

Hot Toddy’s are your grandmas genius way of getting rid of colds and help you get a little sleep…Natures NyQuil if you will…or not. If you happily will the recipe is below…

Ingredients:

• 1 oz Brandy, Whiskey or Rum
• 1 tbsp Honey
• 1/4 Lemon
• 1 Cup Hot Water
• 1 Bag of your favorite Tea

How To:

Coat the bottom of your mug with honey. Add liquor and juice from lemon. Add tea to kettle to steep. Pour steeped tea into cup and stir. ENJOY!

Penelope and Javier are having a baby! Boy, Girl, Surprise? If you know me then you know that I am a fan of co-ed baby showers.

Did you know that Penelope loves In-N-Out burgers??!! I can see them having a rustic lounge area with mini burgers and gourmet pigs in a blanket.  Who said Neutral has to be yellow? I think bright blues, natural greens and pops of color would be perfect to creat a casual co-ed experience!

To soften it up I would add white peonies, and a beautiful white dessert table! Soft classical music in the garden would promote conversation and relax mom, dad and baby!

Family portraits are so much fun (for me at least) this year I want to do something different! As soon as I saw these portraits from the movie “The Joneses”, I knew I HAD to have them! (I will keep you posted on the outcome!)

The Joneses is about a “Fake” families that are put across the US to flash what they got so we will buy it. The idea is is simple, the movie is funny, sad, tragic, compassionate and definitely entertaining.

The moral is a clear “is it worth it”?

I know – seems like a lot of ingredients – But I think its worth it – its good for you and actually tastes pretty great to. Bonus – it can feed a crowd!

Ingredients

Lentils:

• 1 Medium Spanish Onion, Peeled and Quartered
• 1 carrot, quartered
• 1 stalk celery, quartered
• 1 fresh or dried bay leaf
• 4 sprigs fresh thyme
• 4 cups chicken stock
• 1 1/4 cups dried French green lentils
• Salt and freshly ground pepper
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1/4 pound slab bacon, diced
• 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
• 1 small carrot, peeled and finely diced
• 2 teaspoons finely chopped fresh thyme leaves
• 1 tablespoon sherry vinegar
• 4 cups frisee or mixed greens
• Sherry Vinaigrette, recipe follows
• 4 slices goat cheese
• French bread, for serving

I am sure you have heard of themed dinner parties. Maybe, Italian Night or Wines from Across the Globe. Themed dinner parties don’t have to be about a place or a holiday or celebration. Why not choose a color?

I am totally NOT saying to have all the food be the same color! Just all the accent decor is green. Ask your friends to wear green accessories, such as earrings or necklace for the ladies and maybe some green cuff links or a pin for the fellas!

I think green is such a great color and since you find it in nature,almost any color goes well, orange, red, purple…your food is sure to be a great accent color! How about Spaghetti! Put out Red flowers to accent the food and your decor.

The possibilities are endless!

Amy is funny, witty, charming all because she can be her goofy self! This book will make you want to entertain even if its not your “Thing”! I have to say that on more than one occasion I was quite tickled. Hehe. I love that the book has a vintage 60′s feel even though it was written in 2006.

I assure you this book has everything you need to entertain and be entertained! How to be a good hostess…Check, How to be a good guest…Check, Marijuana references…Check, Recipes…Check! Not to mention she has a bit in the book about cleaning your girlie parts! Like I said, this book has EVERYTHING!

If you are not totally intrigued I don’t know what to tell you other than you are totally missing out!
